Here we have a very fine early kerosene lamp. The overall lamp height measures 16" to the top of the chimney; a rather petite example. The lamp stands on a single white marble base. The foot is made of brass with a dogwood blossom and lambs tongue design and has a columnar stem. The barrel shaped font has deep cut facets on the top and base with a delicate band of cut garland around the waist. The #1 size collar is fitted with a very rare and important burner / shade ring made by Jones of Boston c1859. It holds a period wheel cut shade and flanged chimney. The lamp has never been drilled or altered for electricity and will burn oil beautifully. This lamp is ideal for adding to a period home, a sutler or upper middle class civilian camp impression. All lamps sold are shipped with appropriate lamp wicks and burning fluid and instructions on how to care for them.
